At the opening of the Australia Awards alumni Women in Leadership (WIL) Workshop in Port Vila, the Australian High Commissioner, H.E. Sarah deZeoten, encouraged attendees to always take time to continuously grow their leadership. Gender equality is a core Australian and Vanuatu value and a human right the High Commissioner stated, adding that when women participate in the economy and in leadership at all levels, families, communities, and nations are stronger economically and socially.

While in Santo, the Australian High Commissioner had the opportunity to also meet Australia Awards alumni attending the Women in Leadership Workshop held from 25 – 26 March at The Espiritu.

The AAV Women in Leadership Workshop was a two-day event with presentations from Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), V-Lab, Department of Women’s Affairs and Balance of Power. The Santo Workshop followed a successful format delivered earlier in Port Vila, engaging Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), Balance of Power, Department of Women’s Affairs and Yumiwork to deliver presentations and panel discussions on management, entrepreneurship, political decision making and leadership.
