
The Australia Awards Vanuatu (AAV) Alumni Committee has recently welcomed a new team of dedicated professionals who will serve in a prestigious voluntary capacity over the next two years. This committee plays a vital role in shaping the future of the Australia Awards program in Vanuatu, working in close partnership with the Australian High Commission and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
The role of the committee is both collaborative and strategic, offering members a unique opportunity to provide input into the direction of the program while contributing to national development. Committee members bring diverse expertise and leadership experience to the table, and their service is a valuable avenue for professional growth, engagement, and impact.
The new alumni committee members include:
- Liah John Kaltoi, appointed as the Alumni Committee Convener, also serves as the Assistant Secretary General to the Shefa Provincial Council. In her leadership role, Liah will guide the committee’s overall direction and serve as a key liaison between the alumni network and program stakeholders.
- Regina Heheina will take responsibility for supporting the Alumni of the Year initiative. Regina brings her healthcare expertise as Hospital Pharmacy Manager at Northern Provincial Hospital in Santo, ensuring excellence and recognition within the alumni community.
- Sylvia Boeson, currently the Inclusion Coordinator (National Education Program Acting) with the Ministry of Education and Training, will focus on assisting with Professional Development workshops, advancing capacity-building opportunities for alumni and current scholars.
- Sandra Joses, a professional Surveyor at the Lands Department in Santo, will support the implementation of the Alumni Grant Scheme initiative. Her involvement will help facilitate practical projects driven by alumni that benefit local communities.
- Moses Nasse, Provincial Education Officer and Manager of Human Resource Development at the Ministry of Education and Training, will take the lead on alumni networking events and wrap-up events. His role will foster stronger connections across the alumni network and encourage knowledge sharing.
