AAV Alumni Harness Data Analysis and Visualisation Seminar to Leverage Better and Sustainable Results

Posted in News

Australia Awards Vanuatu recently held its first professional development seminar of the year for alumni members to attend. This was the second seminar on Data Analysis and Visualisation facilitated by Marc Delrieu from Vanuatu Data Science, and hosted by Yumiwork in Port Vila. It was well received by alumni members, with participants attending in person and online. The seminar provided alumni with the opportunity to solidify their knowledge on data summary, analysis and presentation.

Data analytics is the process of examining data sets in order to find trends and draw conclusions about the information they contain, it is an excellent professional skillset and assists to promote efficiency and more strategically guided decisions. There is a rapid demand for analytical solutions and tools as the significant role of data is recognised across all professional sectors. Data-driven organisations leverage better and sustainable results, making for more informed choices that yield long-term benefits.

Alumni members found this seminar to be extremely applicable within their areas of expertise and are looking forward to implementing within their practices. Australia Awards graduate, Stephanie Ephraim, who attended the seminar explains ‘data analysis and visualisation is not just about numbers and graphs, they’re about uncovering the hidden stories and insights that can lead to better decision-making and a deeper understanding of the world around us’.

The array of professional development opportunities provided to our Australia Awards alumni continues to strengthen the skillsets of the next generation of global leaders for development. These seminars promote the evolving nature of our professional sectors and endorse the importance of a continuous approach towards further developing skills and knowledge to drive change, assisting to build enduring people-to-people links between Vanuatu, Australia and the region.
